Thank you for visiting McAnally Art!  Art is more than paint and paper and making a straight line - it is creating unique solutions to problems.  The ability to "think outside the box" and find creative solutions is fundamental in students' success in the future and this is the primary goal of learning in my art class. Your 5th and 6th grade students will produce great works of art based on their individual ability as well as challenging their higher-level thinking skills.

This year, students will have art class for 12 weeks, Monday-Friday.  The curriculum this year for both 5th and 6th grade will focus on the foundations of art much like an "Art Appreciation" class.  We will be going "back in time" studying the art of 21st and 20th century artists.  Along the way, students will create art based on the art elements and principles, learn high-level thinking strategies, and grow their individual art skills.

I will display student artwork regularly both at McAnally and digitally for parents and others to view.  If you have any questions, concerns or comments, I would love to hear from you!

As far as me personally, I graduated with a BFA from Stephen F. Austin State University and teaching certificate All Level Art.  My first teaching position was 6-8 grade art at Texas Middle School in Texarkana, TX where I also worked with core subject teachers in art integration of their class curriculum.  I carried this art integration philosophy to Lake Worth ISD elementary where I taught Kindergarten-5th grade art for three years.  I recently had the great priveldge of working with amazing students and faculty at Leonard Middle School in Fort Worth.  I am very excited to be here in my home district of Aledo.

Looking forward to this year!
